African Technology Policy Studies Network (ATPS)

African Technology Policy Studies Network (ATPS) is a trans-disciplinary network of researchers, policymakers, private sector actors, and civil society that promotes the generation, dissemination, use, and mastery of science, technology, and innovation (STI) for African development, environmental sustainability, and global inclusion. ATPS collaborates with like-minded institutions to provide platforms for policy research, supporting African governments and STI institutions to build necessary knowledge conditions and infrastructures. The network has over 3,000 members and 5,000 stakeholders in over 51 countries, with its secretariat in Nairobi, Kenya.

ATPS has established national chapters in 30 countries, including 27 in Africa and 3 Diaspora chapters in Australia, the United States of America, and the United Kingdom. The organization has retained its top position as the 1st Top Science and Technology Policy Think Tank in Africa and 10th globally, according to the 2019 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report. ATPS aims to improve the capacity and performance of think tanks in governments and civil societies, showcasing their role in enhancing policy research and implementation.

Through its extensive network and strategic partnerships, ATPS facilitates the effective valorization and commercialization of scientific and indigenous knowledge into new technologies and innovations for sustainable development on the continent. The organization's focus on collaborative and innovative policy research makes it a key player in the field of science, technology, and innovation policy in Africa.
