Setup

In Claude, go to Settings > Connectors and add Data Surfer, or click "Add custom connector" and enter https://mcp.data-surfer.com

You will be redirected to Data Surfer to authorize the connection

Log into your Data Surfer account (or create a free account)

Click "Authorize" to grant Claude access to your Data Surfer data

Authentication

This connector uses OAuth 2.0 with PKCE for secure authentication. Your Data Surfer API key is encrypted at rest using AES-256 and only used to make API calls on your behalf. OAuth tokens are stored as SHA-256 hashes. You can revoke access at any time from your Data Surfer account settings.

No passwords are stored by the connector. No conversation content is stored or logged.

Data Surfer searches its company database and displays results in an interactive table. You can filter by industry, location, and size, then select and save companies to your list.

Data Surfer lists your research templates, filters your companies by tag, and starts the AI research job. An interactive dashboard shows live progress and expandable findings for each company.

Contact Discovery

Data Surfer searches for contacts by role at the specified company. An interactive view shows contact cards with name, title, email, LinkedIn profile, and confidence scores. Select contacts and add them to your permanent list.

This uses the complete pipeline: lookup-companies, run-research, search-contacts, add-contacts-from-search, enrich-contacts, and get-enrichment-status.

Organize with Tags

Create tags, assign them to companies or contacts in bulk, then use tag-based filtering for batch research or outreach operations.

Cold Outreach Workflow

Data Surfer adds the company to your outreach pipeline and runs an AI signal scan to discover their blog, social profiles, career pages, and key contacts' social accounts. Each source is scored 1-10 for monitoring value. Enable the top-scored sources and generate engagement recommendations.

Warm Lead Management

"Show me my warm leads and log that I had a call with NJ Intelligence's CTO today"

Data Surfer lists your warm leads with an interactive dashboard showing warming score progress, monitoring sources, contacts, and recent activities. Activity logging uses AI to auto-detect the type (call, email, LinkedIn message, etc.) and awards bonus points toward the warming score.

Plan Limits

Data Surfer usage is governed by your plan limits. Each operation consumes from your allocation:

Site signalsSignal monitoring slots (capacity-based, freed when monitoring is removed)

Use get-dashboard-stats to check your remaining limits at any time. When limits are exhausted, operations will return an error with upgrade instructions.
